I met her at a book signing in San Francisco about 20 years ago. I asked to kiss her cheek, and when she asked me, “Why should I let you?” I told her it would make everyone else jealous. She tapped her cheek and said “make it quick.”

She is amazing. Timeless, and as lovely as a sacred grove.
